Woman is swimming in the ocean when a seal suddenly attacks her for all the right reasons

Every time we want to get closer to nature we should think thoroughly about whether it is safe or not. As mother nature is full of surprises prepared especially for us.

Recently an elementary school teacher was on vacation with her husband in Waikiki, Hawaii. However, this happy vacation turned into a nightmare for the couple.

Locals of Waikiki have grown fond of Rocky, a Hawaiian monk seal they often see on Kaimana Beach. The local people and authorities paid great attention to the seal as some times ago she was considered an endangered species. When Rocky gave birth the people began to pay much attention to them both. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Hawaii Marine Animal Response closely watched this mother-child pair in their waters.

However, the schoolteacher hadn’t known this all and swam freely on Kaimana Beach when all of a sudden he came across Rocky. The woman couldn’t hear the people shouting from the shore not to swim there as it was Rocky’s territory and as soon as she encountered a human there she would attack to protect her child. The woman drew her attention and Rocky approached.

The seal kept pulling her underwater, and some witnesses said that she even bit her head at some point.

But a group of bystanders with a canoe went near her to block her off the seal. They took the woman to the shore and called 911. The woman had lacerations on her arm, face, and back. This is neither seal’s nor the woman’s fault but is an unfortunate incident. But the case is a good reminder for us all always to ask or get to know the place we’re visiting before we tread on it.
