Donald Braswell II stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage with a story that immediately captured attention. The talented tenor had once been on the path to a successful opera career, but a serious car accident damaged his vocal cords and left him unable to speak properly for years. Determined to prove that his dream was still alive, he auditioned for the show at the age of 45 and took a chance that would change his life.
For his audition, Donald performed Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up.” At first, parts of the audience seemed unsure about his act, but everything changed as his powerful voice filled the theater. His emotional performance won over the crowd, turning doubt into loud applause. The judges were impressed by both his vocal ability and his inspiring comeback story.
By the end of the audition, all three judges voted “Yes,” sending him through to the next round. Donald’s memorable performance became one of the standout moments of Season 3, and his journey continued far beyond the auditions. After returning as a Wild Card contestant, he ultimately finished in fourth place, proving that perseverance and passion can overcome even the toughest setbacks.
